Facial angle measurement is an important reference in aesthetic consultations. The new spatial angle calibration feature improves how measurement points are adjusted: if a point is off, there is no need to clear everything and start again, one drag corrects it.
The old problem with angle measurement
Angles such as the nasofrontal angle, nasolabial angle and mandibular angle depend on measurement points landing in the right place. Previously, if a point was off by a few millimeters, the usual practice was to delete the whole measurement set and place the points again, which interrupted the flow of the consultation and made the basis of before-and-after data inconsistent.
How calibration works
The physician or consultant can switch to calibration mode and drag a measurement point directly; the movement is previewed in real time, and on release the system recalculates and updates the angle result automatically. Points can be corrected without deleting the existing measurement.
This looks like an interaction detail, but what it affects is the continuity of the consultation: the physician can talk and adjust at the same time, the patient can see the angle change as the point moves, and the conversation is not interrupted by software operation.
Four areas of value
1. Clearer plan discussions: in scenarios such as the nose, jaw and facial proportions, angle data is an important reference for understanding a plan. Calibration fine-tunes key points so that measurement points match the actual observed position, helping patients understand their baseline and the direction of adjustment.
2. More consistent assessment: verbal description is relatively abstract, whereas facial angles such as the nasofrontal and nasolabial angles can be turned into viewable data through visual measurement. Calibration further refines the measurement operation and improves the consistency of consultation assessment.
3. Simpler workflow: previously a point deviation required clearing all data and measuring again; now an existing point can be dragged to correct it, reducing repeated work and keeping the consultation demonstration continuous.
4. Suitable for before-and-after comparison: angle data can be used for preoperative assessment, plan reference and postoperative review; calibrated results make it easier to show facial improvement and help understand the extent of change.
The spatial angle calibration feature mainly improves the interaction for facial angle measurement, providing easily adjustable and quantifiable data as a reference for consultation assessment, and is used as a professional analysis aid. It is part of the more than 60 facial metrics of the 3D Digital Plastic Surgery System; the metrics actually available depend on the software configuration.
